VARIA - Overview
The webKess module VARIA hosts multiple surveillance components with identical structural data under one roof.
This allows participants to set up cost centers, wards, or functional areas (generally organizational units, OEs) once and use them for various activities.
Surveillance components supported within VARIA include (click on each component for more information):
- HAND-KISS
- Antibiotic Consumption Surveillance
- Clean Hands Initiative Compliance Observations
All these components require information about the hospital wards; in Antibiotic Consumption Surveillance, cost centers are additionally requested.
VARIA - Import of Data
To work with a surveillance component in VARIA, the system needs to know which organizational units (OEs) exist in your hospital. For HAND-KISS and ASH Compliance Observations, these are wards and functional areas, and for Antibiotic Consumption Surveillance, the system requires cost centers and wards. These OEs can be uploaded to webKess via a text file.
If you want to import denominator data, such as patient days or cases per ward or cost center, you can also do so via a text file. In many cases, the necessary text file can be created by the hospital’s controlling department.
Antibiotic consumption data is also imported, often generated by the hospital’s pharmacy.
The structure of these text files and the criteria to be considered are specified in the following documents:
For the import of Antibiotic Consumption Surveillance data:
- Antibiotic Consumption Surveillance - Data Import of Surveillance Data
If you are not participating in Antibiotic Consumption Surveillance and want to import your HAND-KISS data:
- webKess.VARIA - Data Import (currently being created)
If you have questions or suggestions after reading the above specifications, please contact the webKess support team. We welcome your feedback.
