Short description:
Recording of Dialysis-Associated Infections in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis Treatment in Your Outpatient Dialysis Facility
Detail description:
The procedure for recording dialysis-associated infection events is detailed in the protocol Surveillance of Dialysis-Associated Infection Events in Outpatient Dialysis Facilities (AMDI-KISS). The following criteria for a dialysis-associated infection event are recorded: positive pathogen detection in blood culture, initiation of intravenous antibiotic treatment, and local signs of infection at the vascular access or shunt. The recording also considers the use of various dialysis access types, which present different risks for dialysis-associated infections: arteriovenous fistula (AVF), arteriovenous graft/prosthetic shunt (AVG), and tunneled and non-tunneled central venous catheters (CVC).
